Josh Baron

Josh Baron is a Partner at OMBI, specializing in family philanthropy and business strategy. He has over a decade of experience in the consulting profession, and has supported leading corporations, private foundations, government agencies, nonprofit organizations, and family philanthropists.

Dr. Baron collaborates with families and their professional advisors to develop and implement philanthropic strategies that meet their personal and social goals. He has a particular expertise in creating philanthropic platforms in the field of education and youth development, but has also worked in the domains of aging, arts and culture, community and economic development, environmental sustainability, health, housing, human services, and international conflict resolution. Dr. Baron also has extensive experience in strategy and management consulting, supporting clients by developing strategic and business plans, conducting feasibility studies, leading design and innovation processes, and facilitating organizational change efforts.

Dr. Baron began his career at Bain & Company, working at its offices in Chicago, Johannesburg, Sydney, and San Francisco. In 2000, Dr. Baron joined a small team of people led by the former CEO of Bain to start a new firm called The Bridgespan Group, which is now the leading provider of strategic consulting services to foundations and nonprofit organizations in the United States. He left Bridgespan in 2008 to found his own firm advising philanthropists and their social sector partners on how to increase the impact of their work.

Dr. Baron attended The University of Pennsylvania, where he received a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the Wharton School of Business and a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations (Honors). He also holds a Masters in International Relations with Distinction from the University of Cambridge, and a Masters and PhD in Political Science from Columbia University.
