Eduardo Gentil

Eduardo Gentil, a Partner at OMBI, has spent his career in investment banking in Brazil and New York. He has served family-owned, privately held, and publicly traded corporations on a range of financial issues, such as preparing for an IPO, mergers and acquisitions, debt financing, and balancing the financial needs of the family and the business.

Mr. Gentil began his career in the financial industry at JP Morgan in New York, and then served as Managing Director for Goldman Sachs in Brazil for ten years. During this period, he participated in several private equity investments in privately held Brazilian companies and served on the boards of these companies.

In 2002, Mr. Gentil served as a director of the Brazilian National Development Bank (BNDES) where he was responsible for the BNDESPAR equity investments as well as the structured loan and project finance activity. As a director of BNDES, Mr. Gentil served on the boards of several Brazilian companies, including Klabin and Globocabo, during a period of major financial restructuring in many sectors of the economy.

Mr. Gentil was appointed president of Visa do Brasil’s operations in 2004, which included the role of chairman of Visanet, one of Visa’s largest companies globally. More recently, Mr. Gentil headed the investment banking-corporate finance group at Unibanco, Brazil’s third largest private sector bank prior to its merger with Banco Itaú.

Mr. Gentil has worked with John A. Davis at OMBI as an advisor to Brazilian family-owned companies on issues such as succession, financial planning, recruiting and retaining a non-family CEO, and corporate governance.

Mr. Gentil earned his MBA from the Stern School of Business at New York University, and his BA from Princeton University in History and Economics.
