Mark Voeller, Ph.D.

Mark Voeller is a Senior Advisor with OMBI. Active in the family business field for over 25 years, his consulting work is focused on helping families address relationship and governance issues to achieve business continuity and family harmony across generations. He specializes in succession planning, management team building, conflict management, and preparation of heirs for wealth ownership.

Dr. Voeller frequently partners with both financial and legal advisors helping to design strategies and structures to successfully pass operating companies and a legacy of wealth stewardship from one generation to the next. His clients include organizations involved in beverage distribution, medical supplies distribution, food distribution, investment banking, architectural design, oil & gas, real estate development, and retail sales. He is adept in the area of facilitating difficult conversations, the resolution of divisive conflict, and developing competence with communication.

Dr. Voeller has authored several articles in addition to his book, Exit Right: A Guide to Succession Planning for Families-In-Business-Together. Exit Right is acclaimed by business founders and their advisors. He has designed and run workshops in Europe, Australia, and Canada, as well as throughout the United States.

Dr. Voeller has presented and served as facilitator for the Families in Business: From Generation to Generation (FIB) program at Harvard Business School. He has also served on the Family Firm Institute’s (FFI) Board of Directors and as chair of FFI’s Body of Knowledge committee where he was responsible for disseminating FFI’s intellectual capital and their inter-disciplinary approach to advising family enterprise. He has been named a Fellow of the Family Firm Institute. He earned his MA from Wake Forest University and a Ph.D. in psychology from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center.
